Almost invisible, Ruby was found tied to a bench in freezing temperatures in front of the Willcox Animal Shelter. She was extremely emaciated and emotionally withdrawn.
The animal shelter contacted ARC and we brought her in within just a few hours.
Even in her weakened state, she still managed a slight tail wag when we arrived.
The following day, we brought Ruby to the veterinarian for bloodwork and x-rays to ensure there wasn’t a medical reason for her being so grossly underweight.
She weighed in that day at only 33 lbs.
Within a few days and with so much love and a steady diet with plenty of water, she was already looking so much better and after just a few weeks she was already 49lbs.
We reached out to Smiling Dog Rescue for their assistance in finding her a qualified home. After several weeks we received a phone call from Troy Beeman who was very interested in meeting Ruby along with his dog “Lucy” to see if she would be a good fit into their home.
The meeting went exceptionally well! Lucy and Ruby met as if they had known each other their entire lives, and it was a definite “go” on adoption. Troy took Ruby home that same day. Rica with Smiling Dog Rescue took care of finalizing the adoption process and ensuring Ruby was followed up with for spay and vaccinations.
General came to ARC on 2/1/24 from the Douglas Animal Shelter. He had been owner surrendered due to a large abscess that had ruptured and the owner couldn't afford
medical care.
We got him to the veterinary clinic the next day where he was x-rayed, anesthetized, the gaping wound in his neck was flushed and medication was prescribed. Thank you to PACC911 for assisting in his medical costs!
General is a very loving boy who was so deserving of this second chance. We contacted AZ Mastiff Rescue to see if they could take him from here to see him through the adoption process as there was a foster to adopt opportunity waiting for him.
General was transferred to that home where he has received additional care with AZ Mastiff Rescue and he is doing well with his new family.
Happy days only for this boy. Love wins!
ARC was asked to bring in 4 Shihtzu's who had been found dumped and trapped in a rocky area in Red Knolls with a bucket of food but no water. They were found by hikers who kept them for the night but needed to find them a place to go.
Upon intake, we vaccinated them and scanned them for a microchip. 2 of the 4 were chipped (Poppy and Jax) and the owner information was provided by the microchip company and we contacted her immediately. She informed us they had gone out shooting and the dogs ran off but they didn't know where the other 2 came from. After speaking to them they did agree it would be best to surrender them to ARC. While they did say they didn’t know who the other 2 belonged to, it was obvious the dogs knew each other and were possibly related. We named them Griffin and Mochi.
We contacted our friends with The Pet Knot and arranged for transport on 4/22/24 where they will continue on the right path to finding their perfect families. Better days ahead for these beautiful pups where they will be safe!
Love Wins!
